The Philosophy Department of M.V. College, Buxar was established in 1958 with the aim of cultivating critical thinking, logical reasoning, ethical understanding, and a reflective outlook among students. Since its foundation, the department has strived to introduce learners to the profound intellectual traditions of Indian and Western philosophy while encouraging them to question, analyze, and engage with fundamental issues concerning life, knowledge, and human values.
The department offers a comprehensive curriculum covering major branches of philosophy such as Indian Philosophy, Western Philosophy, Ethics, Logic, Social and Political Philosophy, Metaphysics, Epistemology, and Contemporary Philosophical Thought. Students are trained to interpret philosophical texts, examine arguments, and develop clarity in both written and verbal expression.
