The History Department of M.V. College, Buxar was established in 1958. It is one of the distinguished and academically enriching departments of the institution. Established with the objective of providing students with a comprehensive and analytical understanding of the past, the department aims to develop historical awareness, critical thinking, and a deep appreciation for India’s rich cultural and social heritage.
The curriculum covers Ancient, Medieval, and Modern Indian History along with World History, Archaeology, Cultural Studies, and Post-colonial Studies. It is designed not only to familiarize students with important historical events and processes but also to introduce them to research methodology, interpretation of sources, and evidence-based analysis.
The department is supported by a team of experienced, qualified, and dedicated faculty members who guide students academically as well as intellectually. To enrich the learning experience, the department regularly organizes seminars, workshops, educational tours, project work, debates, and historical discussions that foster research interest and deeper understanding among students.
